Bob's Story

Here is a story about our beautiful cat BOB. We had 2 kittens already and heard that Marty's sisters cat had 3 kittens and all but one of them died. She asked us if we wanted him and we said we would have to see him. His mother had a virus when caring the kittens, therefore 2 died and he survived, he was a fighter. She wasn't producing any milk so they had to bottle feed him which was hard for them. We saw him and I instantly fell in love with the little guy, he was about 5 weeks old and only weighed 1 pound. He fit in the palm of my hand. Marty said the only way that we could keep him was to name him BOB, which I wasn't to excited about that but it was the only way and I said yes. The reason was, he has white bobby socks, he bobs his head when he eats and he had a bobtail. We brought him home and handle him with gentle care. He grew so fast and ate like a pig. Then, one day he started having problems walking and jumping on things and couldn't even step up on anything, so I took him into the vet and they said he had a high temperature and a virus that was attacking his muscles. They put him on Antibiotics and steroids for 1 month and it helped so much, but the problem still was there, just not so bad. He started flipping out, going in circles, itching himself profusely, so I took him back and they did other tests and found that his cerebellum stem was not fully developed, so it would cause these problems he has. Well, we spent a lot of money on him, but it has been well worth it. He is now 5 years old and hasn't been to the vet in about 2 years. He is doing terrific, except for the spastic behavior and meanness in him, which comes with the problem, which we can definitely handle that. It brings great joy to both Marty and I. We love him dearly and wouldn't know what to do without him. I hope he continues to bring love and laughter to our home and others once they see his picture.
