Hi,
From all the information I've seen, you do want to avoid ketamine in these kitties. If it is used, you should dose it very low to avoid using any more than is absolutely necessary. It is also important to place an endotracheal tube to be sure the cat gets enough oxygen during the surgery and to have monitors for oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and EKG (most vets do these).

Propofol would be a good induction agent. Your vet could pre-medicate with butorphanol and buprenorphine for a nice sedative effect and post-op pain control, then follow with the propofol and gas (isoflurane or sevoflurane) for the surgical procedure.
